Tapestry Health: providing high-quality, affordable, confidential health services and advocacy

For 37 years, Tapestry Health has played a key role in delivering reproductive health care and HIV counseling and testing to all those who live in Western Massachusetts. By combining caring, community-based health-care services with the most recent advances in medical practice, Tapestry Health has made sure that those who are most in need can get the care they deserve, regardless of ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or income.

Since 1973, when it was founded as the Family Planning Council of Western Massachusetts, Tapestry Health has been the only organization in the region to continually provide reproductive health care to the area's most neglected residents, teenagers, women living in poverty, recent immigrants, uninsured individuals, the homeless, injection drug users, and men and women with HIV or AIDS.

Today, Tapestry Health continues to grow in the number of people we serve and in the range of services we provide. From being the first in the region to offer the rapid one-day HIV test, to providing confidential birth control and emergency contraception services to those who have nowhere else to turn, to ensuring that more than 8,400 low-income mothers and their babies get nutritious food through the WIC program, Tapestry continues to be there.

Currently, Tapestry Health provides reproductive health-care services to 50,000 residents of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. And we're dedicated to continuing to meet each and every need until all people have access to reproductive health care and family planning, until the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases is halted, and until all children are wanted and able to grow and thrive in stable, healthy families.

As a non-profit organization, Tapestry Health receives funding from a number of sources, including community organizations, government agencies, small business, consumers, and individual donors.

Tapestry Health is dedicated to providing affordable health care to the uninsured and underinsured. All our services are available on a sliding scale fee basis. In addition, Tapestry Health accepts MassHealth, Tufts Health Plan, Health New England, Blue Cross Blue Shield, BMC, and Network Health.
